WV State Leadership and Skills Conference
National Leadership and Skills Conference
The SLSC will be held on March 27-28 , 2009
at the Academy of Careers and Technology in Beckley, WV.
The NLSC will be held on June 23-27, 2008
in Kansas City, MO. Refer to the national website

Registration for the SLSC will be conducted online this year! The registration site will open February 1, 2008 and remain open until March 11, 2008. View these instructions to answer your questions about using the conference registration system.

Registration fees for the 2008 SLSC are $35 for student competitors and $18 for advisors, administrators, and observers.

View a list of hotels conveniently located near Ben Franklin Career Center in Dunbar. No hotel rooms have been blocked this year, so each chapter is responsible for making its own reservations.

The competition theme for 2007-08 is
SkillsUSA: Champions at Work.
This theme should be used for the Chapter Display, Prepared Speech, and Promotional Bulletin Board contests. Additional information about this year's theme can be found on the national website.

This year only, each chapter may register multiple contestants for Pin Design. Students competing in Pin Design cannot compete in any other leadership or skills contest. First, second, and third place finishers in both the secondary and postsecondary division will win medals. Cash prizes will not be awarded. First place finishers are eligible to compete in the demonstration contest at the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City in June.

Download the State Officer Candidate Application. Each chapter may submit the names of two candidates for state office. All forms must be returned to the state office no later than April 1, 2008. Candidate screening is scheduled for Friday, April 11, 2008 from 3:00 - 5:00 PM at Ben Franklin Career Center.

Download the Code of Conduct. This form does not need to be returned to the state office; however, advisors must keep a signed copy of the this form in their possession throughout the conference.

Download the Participant Consent Form. All forms must be returned to the state office no later than April 1, 2008.

Download the Circular Saw Training Verification Form. All forms must be returned to the state office no later than April 1, 2008.

Download the Diesel Equipment Training Verification Form. All forms must be returned to the state office no later than April 1, 2008.
